I have a question regarding a seat option that was available in full size GM cars 1966-1972?. These seats were called "Strato Bench". They had a full width bench bottom with bucket seat backs and a fold down arm rest. These seats were a really good looking arrangement.
They were a pretty common option in Toronados, Rivieras, El Dorados, and Chevy Caprices.
Does anyone know how wide they were and whether they will work in an A-body car? I would like to use one in a '67 wagon.
Anyone out there have one of these seats.

TIM-- I also like the strato seats. I HAVE measured a 66 67 toronado too see if the might fit a 1966 elcamino, and they are the same width !!!!! 54" is the number I came up with on both cars, hope that helps. also keep in mind most of those deluxe cars had power seats with the contols on the door arm rest, if you dont want to fight that installation try and find a non-power seat to start with. now I'm trying to figure out how too get stock interior covers for this seat switch?? THESE seats should be a really comfortable seat for road trips, hope this helps. I'm signing off and going to a silver auction for classic cars- over and out MARK ps I know were 4 of these stratos are here in spk wa

Tim,
I have a "Strato Bench" seat out of a 1969 Riviera in my 71 wagon. The headrest are different so I used backs off of an old set of 70 bucket seats. This way the headrest match with my other Chevelles. To have the seat recoverd I purchased a set of bucket seat covers and used the backs normally. I had the interior shop sow the two bottoms together to cover the bench. The armrest was covered with black material to match the bench. The Buick seat came with some neat seatbelt holders that attach to the bottom of the seat. I reused them and they work great. You also have to use the seat rails off of the Chevelle seats.
I really like the seat. With the armrest folded down it looks like you have bucket seats, and it is very comfortable to sit in.
