A recent post about the gas pedal hitting the carpet and mat before WOT got me thinking. I know mine was hitting WOT and the mechanical secondaries were opening, but that was happening in the sponginess of the pedal hitting the carpet.

Today, I shortened my throttle cable so that WOT is pedal an inch or so off the floor. It is so much nicer to drive I cant believe I let it go on this long. Before, I used to feel like I was really stretching out my body to floor it, like straining to squash a bug with my toe that is just out of reach. Now, I can easily give it way too much throttle, and I love that goofy feel when the secondaries start to open and the pedal resistance lightens as it makes its last bit of travel.

How do you folks have your pedal travel set up? Just curious. Any safety issues with how I have set this up, like changing pull geometry which could cause binding, etc?

Sounds like what you describe should be OK. I would have an assistant get behind the wheel and have them work the gas pedal while you are under the hood without breather. Check to make sure that you are not binding the mechanisms and that your return springs are not being over stressed. You may want to replace the springs with a heavier double set to give you more pedal feel and return action.
