Is there any information about which 69 Chevelles received soft vinyl covered piller pads and which ones recieved the hard painted metal ones?

Lou... This was sorta discussed a couple weeks ago and didn't seem like the padded pillar posts were started, stopped, in any particular year. I have steel on my original 68,71 and my 72. Some guys said they had padded ones, so I don't think anyone can say for sure weather a particular car should have them or not.

I've had 4 '69 Chevelles-one SS, one 300 deluxe and two Malibu's and I've never seen any correlation to which pillar post cover went with a particular model. Maybe they just put in what they had at the time in the color they needed.

I was reading the Features and Specifications Manual for a '68 Chevelle last night, and it states under the safety section, "padded dash and padded pillar covers"
