This has probably been asked before but I will ask again. what is the diference between small block and big block frame mounts. I know that the small block are a little taller, where does this cause a problem? Thanks for the help.

There's different answers for different years... '64-67 one answer, 68-72 another, '73-77 completely different type/style of mounting all together.

Just as someone titled their new topic the other day... WHAT YEAR ARE YOU WORKING ON!!!

Sorry, 'bout that. (I guess I need a few more posts under my belt before I act like that!)

The SB frame mounts are taller and wider and the BB frame mounts are lower and narrow. It doesn’t matter which frame mounts or motor mounts you have as long as you have the matching mounts. I just paid a lot of money to change my frame mounts from SB to BB for my 69' 396 and change the motor mounts and there was no difference in the position of the engine. I was doing this because I put Hooker headers with 2" primaries on and it was hitting everywhere, and when I changed over, it was the same.

Sorry Len. I have a 71 Convertable. The reason I'm asking is I have a set if small block mounts on the frame that I got the body on ( not the original frame ). I was wondering if I could use them for a big block motor, possibly with a working cowl induction hood.

Thanks
