this is my first post on this website. i have been coming to this site for more than 3 years now and reading the information that you guys post here. you do not know the wealth of information that i have found by just reading the information placed on this site. thank you very much for all your help.
i have a question about the side vent assemblies on the dash of my 1970 elcamino. i restored the dash over the winter (with help and information from this site)and was putting the last few touches on when EVIL struck. the mounting ears (tabs) on both of the side vent assemblies in the dash snapped right off. they were so old and brittle they just crumbled. i thought i might be able to glue them back on, but they are just too far gone.
so i pulled out my catalog from Original Parts Group and the Paddock, and they do not sell the entire vent assembly, just the chromed insert. i received my Ground Up catalog and they sell something similiar (page 78 part number IJ-3272) but the problem is they are for a car without AC. The differance is, on the side of my vent assembly is a small chrome knob that opens and closes a small flapper in the back of the assembly when you push it up and down.
any ideas where i can get 2 side vent assemblies for an AC car for a 1970 elcamino?
(i would prefer new ones becuase old ones may be just as brittle and fall apart too)
