I have a chance to get a free set of seats out of a 90s Hyundai Excell. Their in nice shape, black/grey. Do you think their worth puting in a 72 Elky? And can a upulsterer (sp) add some lumbar and bolster support when redoing these (to match interior). Their not very sporty.

I also have 2 pairs of VW GTI seats I pulled out of 85s years ago. Great shape but one driver seat has light wear. I pulled these out of the cars myself. (I was into VW scene at the time).

The VW seats hold you like a glove and I would like to use a set of those, but VW uses a track system mounted on the floor that different that other manufactures. Nicer seats but may make for a difficult install compaired to the Excell.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Chris R.

The VW seats should be Recaro's right? I'd say grab a set of the VW rails to mount the seat to. Save the originals in case you ever wanna' change em' back.

I say wrap up those VW's and bolt em' in. Should make for a nice comfy, secure ride. They also lend themselves nicely to 4 and 5 point harnesses.

Depends on how long you want to use the seats. I'd go with the VW over the Hyundai. While Korean workmanship it great, they work with inferior material. Even if they are free I don't think it would be worth having them modified to improve the lumbar support
