I am trying to replace the front bench seat upholstrey in my 73 chevelle. It has a bench seat with no fold down arm rest. All the catalogs skip 73 bench seats, but offer 64-72 and then 74-77. Whats so different about a 73 vs 74-77? and will upholstrey from a 73 El camino bench work? thanks

You said it, the '74-on Malibu Classic seat has a fold-down armrest. Yes, a '73 El Camino bench will fit. The base El Camino used the same interior pieces as the 'Deluxe' (base) series '73, while the El Camino Custom and SS (the SS is always shown with buckets, but the bench was still standard) have the '73 Malibu interior trim.

BTW, if your car is a base 'Deluxe' series, the same seat pattern with very minor material differences carried over on the newly renamed 'Malibu' base series through 1977.

I bet the one without the arm rest is a more handsome seat...
