I have orderd 68 material to reskin a seat ..I have been told that the rear seats are different from 68-72 due to arm rests now i can get a 68 bottom and a 71 back will this combination work or will the back be to short or to long..is there any truth to 68-69 only being the same...or will they mix and match .....I need help on this one ..again I can get the 68 bottom part of the seat but only a 71 back half...
thanks for any help on this.....also i have a 70 4 door rear back piece that i was told was wider will that work in the 68 ????no arm rests like in the 2 door 70,,anf there are no arm rests in the 68 other than the screw on ones that go uo higher......does any of this make sense

I forgot about the no armrest thing in 68, you think I would remember since I have a 68 in the garage. You are going to need a matching upper and lower, 70-72 will probably be too narrow.

ok what about the 70 door seat being wider ? too wide, shaped different ?

can someone take a tape measure acroos there 68 seat side to side top to bottom ?? :confused: PLEASE! :(

68-72 REAR SEATS ARE NOT THE SAME

only 3 sets are used and cannot be mixed matched
1- 2 door hard tops
2- 4 doors (posts sedans and sport sedans)
3- convertibles

you cannot take a conv. rear cushion and put it in
a hard top .: too narrow

you cannot put a 4- door rear seat in a 2-door
too wide.

but a 2door hardtop 68-69 are wider than 70-72 with the 70-72 being narrow in the 2 door hardtop ,,then a 4 door 70 should be wider then....now the 70 4door being wide and a 68-69 being wide are they the same width ?

even if the width were the same, the base is different on the ends and I believe the back section is taller on the 4 door.

you must be talking "Body" width
you can take a 69. hardtop rear seat in put it in a 71 hard top the seat covers wont be the same thou.
you can put a 72 rear convertible seat in a 68 convertible

68-69 fit each other 2 doors 70-72 will not fit 68-69 all 2 door cars if you put a 68 seat in a 70 car it will be tooo long 70 in a 68 will be to short ...that much i know but considering that 68 2 door seats are longer than a 70 i was thinking that since a 4 door 70 is also longer than a 70 2 door it may fit a 68 which is also longer......but as droptop says 4 door may be taller that would kill that idea
