Restoring my parents 64 Chevelle SS. Currently working on the instrument panel.

I have masked and sprayed the interior bezels gloss black, and plan on using real metal for chroming the fronts.

My question is , what is the right color to paint the background (remainder if panel - silver? Grey? Any right or wrong choices of paint?

TIA

The panel is a low luster plastic chrome and the edges ae high luster,, the repops are all Brigh chrome.. look ok but not corect...
I have painted the iner flat pods a simigloss black.. then sprayed the intire dash panel argent silver.. when dried I masked off the outer edge and DUSTED the inside inside with a simi-clear.. this knocks down the high gloss and kind of looks like the Factory finish...dusting.. can held FAR away (12-16 in) and clouding it over the object...
forgot... I outlined the letters with a black tester ink felt pen.. B-4 I dusted on the clear...
