Ken-
What year are you looking for? Or are you talking general like a complete Rochester Book? I know Chev by the Numbers 60-64 as well as the 65-69 and 70-74 books have quite a few carb listings for Carter Holley and Rochester.
I don't know how well this helps...

Steve,
I need a pretty general list. I keep finding carbs at swap meets and yard sales that I don't know what year model they came off of. I am looking for something to put on a 70/71 El Camino but I think most of the carbs I have found are for much later models and have more smog stuff on them than I wan't to mess around with.
Thanks,
Ken

I got this from a a fella interested in a carb I have for sale #7040230

70 indicates Rochester (170 after 1975)
4 indicates decade 4 for 70, 2 for 60's
0 indicates year, this carb is a 70
2 indicates Qjet
3 is motor division, Chevy would be 0,1,2( this is a Caddy)
0 indicates engine/ tranny combo this I don't know.

Ken2: The best that I have seen on this topic is the book called "Chevy V8 Casting Numbers 1955-93" which is produced by Cars&Parts magazine. I got it at Barnes & Noble for about $20. It has 35 pages of Rochester stuff alone. This book is a lifesaver for identifying things like carbs , distributors etc, etc. Perhaps the only thing that it will not help with is the non-Chevy part such as the Cad carb menioned above.

Ken, I have a Delco carb book (about 6' thick) that gives all the carb no's and part no's for all GM lines. Got it when I worked for Cad dealer, it cost a bit (about $50) but it was great for verifing carb numbers. Only problem is size, I would need a wagon to haul it around at the auto dismantler (I was told "we are not JUNK yards anymore" and with the cost of their parts I understand)
PS I belive it is still available it is called a Delco 9X-C manual.
