Can anyone help me? I am looking for a bench seat that has bucket seat backs and a fold down arm rest. I saw one in a Chevelle wagon at Chevellabration '02. I would like on for my wagon. But I am not having any luck in my search. I think they came out of A body wagons, but I can't remember now. Thanks, Erik

I salvaged some seat springs from a 71 Pontiac bench, and it had fold down seats with a center arm rest.

So include Pontiac in your search.

68-72 gm a-body buckets
are called strato buckets
they did make a bench with strato backrests.
I only saw 1.and it was from a 70 eldorado
find a 69-71 eldorado, not only will you find a strato bench seat,it will also come with a power seat track and power seat back releases! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

We changed out the stock bench in our 71' El Camino to a bench with arm rest from a 70' Buick skylark (also an "A" body, saw this done on another Camino at a car show) Fits perfectly, looks great. Has a substatial armrest, both seats fold forward. gives the bench a bucket look.

Also if you can find them, the Chevelle Concours' came with the split bench w/armrest. I have one in my car but I am not giving it up. Now if I could just find a reasonable way to have it recovered. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

P.S. good luck finding covers. You will have to have them made or go with buick covers.

You might be in luck. I just bought a '64 malibu. The man I got it from had exactally what you described sitting in the car. They are power seats. I do not want power seats. They do not fit my car very well anyway. I do not know if the power controlls work or not, they were not hooked up. Just to confirm: these seats are buckskin colored, in good shape (they have a few cigarette burns, but not torn up), they are seperate seats that fit side by side and look like a bench seat, each seat has its own arm rest on the center side. They are HEAVY, so shipping may be expensive. I also have a matching back seat to go with them. I can not use them... at all. So, if you are intrested, please let me know and we will work something out. I would need you to pay shipping and a small purchase price.

They also came in Buick A bodies. This is not the place for want ads though. Please post Want Ads over in the FREE classified section http://www.chevelles.com/ads Thanks.

nick. Hey Nick nobody is offended. Thats just one of the very few rules. We have a huge classified section that I personally guarantee gets good results. As for bench seats with armrests I would look for a Skylark seat. Both of my 71 Skylark convertibles came with bench seats with armrests. Welcome to the site!

I am using such a seat from a '71 Cutlass. It fits well and looks OK.

i was recently going through some old magazines and ran across an article in the winter 2003 issue of chevelle. it shows an installation of a split bench w/ armrest into a 67 wagon. the seat is manufactured by glide engineering. the article does not give any pricing but heres a phone number for glide. i hope this helps you out..

The 'strato' bench seats (with the true bucket seat backs) were in many of the bigger B-body cars, Impala's, Cadillac's, Delta 88's, electras, toranado's etc etc... They will have different floor brackets, but could easily be bolted in... A friend of mine pulled a leather one out of a 69 Cadillac and bolted it into his 81 Elcamino. He did have to drill custom holes for the caddy brackets though...

I have seen several of these style seats in junkyards in toranado's and Cadillacs, and have see photos of them in Impala's.

BOP a-body cars (pontiac, buick, olds) had the standard bench seats, with a fold down arm rest, these are readily available and will bolt right into a chevelle or elcamino with no problems. These do not have the true bucket seat backs though...

Hope this helps!
Ben

Thanks to all the responses. I have a lot of leads to follow up on. I will post this on the wanted section so the guy with the one to get rid of can get a hold of me. I am new to this also and didn't realize that is where I should have been. Thanks again, Erik

nick. Offending people is only allowed in Bench Racing. There are some fast benches there...

Welcome aboard! :D
