: Question on ribbed rear ashtrays

I have a question on rear ashtrays.

The rear ashtrays I took out of my 69 convertible where about 4 x 2.5 inch in sizes. I ordered new GM trays and they where the same size but plain, so I bought a pair off eBay. The trays look nice but they are only 3 x 1.5. The seller claims the smaller size is correct, but I don’t think so. Does any one know which Chevelle if any used the smaller ribbed ashtray. It would be helpful to know when I try to sell/trade them

Thanks,

Mike

The smalller (3 X 1.5) is definately correct for a 68 Chevelle Coupe, provided the lid is ribbed. It may also be correct for some 69 models. I've seen either ribbed or smooth in 69 Chevelles. The seller was not wrong in saying they were correct. The discrepancy may lie in the difference(s) between coupes and converts. Hope this helps...

My 69 convertible (built Nov. 1968) has ribbed top ashtrays they are about 4 x 2.5 and they are original to the car.

Thank You for the input. Looks like I need a 69 convertible rear tray. The ones I have look to be from a 68 coupe
