70L34 Aug 31st, 01, 9:09 AM Hey guys,
Thinking about buying a reproduction 3 spoke cushion grip wheel from Ebay. How is the quality of these wheels? Thanks.

What is the difference/how does it compare to the Grant wheels?

Joey B Sep 6th, 01, 8:58 PM The quality might be ok, but in my opinion, theres no comparison to a real original... the "bumps" on the backside are way different, and i know i can personally tell the difference between a real deal and a repop from a mile away... you can buy a real one for not much (if any) more money than a repop. I'd even prefer an original "colored" wheel dyed black than a repo black one... For your info, these 3 spoke wheels were common in Buick Skylarks and came in a variety of colors... chevelle SS cars only used black, but you can pick up the various colored ones on ebay or better yet at a swap meet, and dye or paint it black... i've done this on several occasions with very nice results. I avoid reproduction ANYTHING unless a nice original or NOS piece is unavailable. Just my 2 cents. - Joe
70L34 Sep 7th, 01, 4:07 AM Yeah, I hear you, but this is going on my '66 GS anyway, so looking totally original isn't a huge deal. I have an original black 3-spoke on my '70, curious to see how the repro compares.
The price was certainly right...165 bucks with the early-style hub, horn contact, and chevy-style cap. So...anyone have a black "Buick" cap?

Albbies1 Sep 7th, 01, 7:32 AM I saw one for sale at the Midwest regionals in addition to a few on some of the cars at the show. I have also seen several factory originals.
My bunt but candid opinion is they are butt ugly. They look like they belong on something other than a classic. They have a cheap look to me. It was night and day hands down. Find an original if you want it for that overall classic muscle car factory accessory look. Just my opinion and not to be offensive to other members that feel differently. Have a good weekend.
