My OIL dummy light is coming on.... is this the oil pressure light or what? I checked the oil and it was low, so i filled it up, but now every once and a while it comes on when I come to a stop..... any ideas?

Ryan,
If the oil pressure light is coming on when you come to a stop (car in gear...automatic trans, I assume)it could mean low oil pressure. First question: when did you last change the oil? Next question: What weight oil are you using? I would change the oil AND the filter (5 qts with filter...fill the filter up with oil before installing). Now, if the oil light comes on again, I would get my hands on an oil pressure guage and check the oil pressure. If it's low, it could point to excessive bearing clearances and/or a worn oil pump. Don't depend on the "idiot light" to give you an accurate picture of oil pressure. The sending unit could also have a problem, so an accurate pressure reading with a guage would be in order.

Well I just put the new cam in and so I am running no synthetic oil, and havent changed it since i put it in a couple weeks ago, I went out and bought a new oil gauge today and it says like 5psi at idle.....something tells me thats low. but at cruising speed its 25...

How aggressive is the cam? I put a pretty nasty cam in my car and had a low idle of about 500 rpm and had low oil pressure, but there was plenty of oil once the rpm's picked up. Just something to think about.
