: rearend help needed !!!!!!!!!!! bowtieblondie Feb 25th, 00, 6:26 PM I have a 64 malibu and i am a little confused on the different widths for the diffrent years of the chevelles. I am looking for a posi rearend for my car and the rearend i have in it now is 59 3/4 inches from outside drum to outside drum,and i was told this was a 67 rearend(10bolt).i just got new wheels 5 1/2 inch back spacing and they fit real well..any info would be just great...Thanks and happy cruzing Sheryl http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif rick Feb 27th, 00, 10:26 PM There are some numbers STAMPED into the front of the passenger side axle tube. The picture here, http://www.chevelles.com/years/64/64rearcodes.html is slightly inaccurate. The numbers are on the front side of the tube. Get these numbers & post them in the tag team area. Someone will be able to tell you the year of the rearend.
