Does anyone know if there shoud be an instrument lamp behind the heater controls on a non air dashboard, also what bulb is used in the courtesy lights.
Thank you in advance to all of you that help answer my seemingly stupid questions. I couln't imagine working on this car without the resources this website offers.

Offhand I don't think there is a light behind the heater controls, but don't quote me on that. I'll check on my '68 when I get home tomorrow from work, it's a non-air version too.
As for the bulb for the courtesy lights, I'd have to check tomorrow.

I've currently got the dash out of my 68, and I've never seen a light by the heater controls.

Ive had three 68 and everyone of them has had a bulb there. If i remember right you should be able to get to it from the glove compartment. Chris

there is definately a lamp, I happened to have a heater control here sitting on my desk..it is plugged into the control behind the "on/hot/deice" end of the control.

there is a lamp there. the way to get to it is remove the glove box insert. the bulb harness is connected to the heater conrol by a spring style clip. just pull it out then push it back in. i checked on an air car and the wire is gray. i pulled it to get the bulb # but it wasn't stamped.
