have a clock in a standard '72 sweep dash that doesnt work (big surprise there, huh). i was wondering if there was a tach on the market that could fit in the opening and look like it belonged there. would have to be around 2" diameter to work, i think.

Go to www.shiftworks.com (http://www.shiftworks.com)

Click on their " In Dash Tachs ". They have EXACTLY what you are looking for, just that it is " coming soon ".

Kind of a good news/bad news thing smile.gif

If you're not in a major rush, this looks like a good way to go.

Tech, back in 1976 I had a 72 Chevelle, which from the documentation and looks, appeared to be factory setup. There was a small square tach either on the right or left side of the sweeper speedo (too many years), similar to Novas from the same era. I now own a 72, I am trying to build like the one I had in 76. I have been searching for someone with a car having this setup and have not had much luck. I have also inquired here and searched on the net for such a tach. Good luck in your quest. Please let me know if you come up with something, and I will do the same.

I used a tach out of a 79 Camaro that I bought off of Ebay. It does require some slight modifications to the housing. I finished this back in the spring. Here's the link:
