: HOW TO REMOVE GLUE???
Robert G May 18th, 04, 11:36 PM I was working on my door panels and i got glue
glue on my fingers and when i was holding the door panles my sticky fingers left some light traces of 3m spray glue on the vinyl how can i remove it with out hurting my new door panels
pop d top May 18th, 04, 11:44 PM Try it in an inconspicuous test area first but... there's this stuff called "Goo B Gone" that might work for you. And believe it or not, I got self adhesive tile glue off the good side of the tiles by hittin' it with a little WD-40. But I'm gonna guess that 3M makes a glue remover/solvent for us less than careful types. ;)

rocks66ss May 19th, 04, 8:11 AM Lighter Fluid on a rag works great, and a product called Goof-Off is good also.

MrEd May 19th, 04, 8:49 AM De natured alcohol will probably do it as well - but test it first.... where it can't be seen --- as stated above - all of these "could" remove some of the vinyl or dye .....
Merlin May 19th, 04, 10:59 AM Mineral Spirits, Thinner, Lighter Fluid, etc., applied with a Q-tip all work well to remove 3-M Super 77 spray adhesive. But as Skip points out, it is always a good idea to find an inconspicuous test area first.
TimC May 19th, 04, 12:47 PM Another vote for Goof-Off

eduardo69chevelle May 20th, 04, 1:56 PM I had a similar problem last weekend and the vast majority of the glue will come off just by rubbing it lightly. It left a slightly dark spot on my parchment panels, but that easily came off with normal interior vinyl cleaner.
I wanted to avoid any solvents if possible.
Robert G May 20th, 04, 2:31 PM SORRY I WAS SO HAPPY I FORGOT TO TELL YOU GUYS graemlins/clonk.gif
I tryed what i had in my shop first it was WD 40
just a little bit in a shop rag , It came right off i tested it first on a scrap door panel first
now ny over spray wasn't that bad so i don't know how it would work on a heavy glob of glue
but in my case it worked good , I know that the GOO BEGONE stuff also works my friend said thats what he uses but i was being cheep and used the WD 40 first and save $4.00
thanks guys

thanks guys I knew WD40 would work. Here at the lab we use WD40 for many things.
rthlc May 23rd, 04, 11:56 AM See you tried my suggestion even before I posted it. WD40 wrks great on all kinds of surfaces. Gojo works pretty good on smooth leather too. (Figured this out then 3yr old son autographed the living room couch with a ink pen, if that hadn't worked I don't think the wife would have let him see 4!)
