I have a CD player on order for my el camino. I'm gonna mount it in a plywood center console. Right now the "console" has a 1/8 inch plywood front plate. Will the 1/8 plywood be strong enuff to support the weight? Does the DIN radio come with the brackets necessary to mount? Thanx.

the din radio comes with a sleve that is supposed to mount into the dash (or console) and the radio slips into that and locks it in to prevent theft.
there is also a metal bracket that comes with it that is supposed to screw into the back of the radio and then attach to the firewall or other support. you will definitally need to attach this to somthing inside your console to prevent it from bouncing too much while driving. otherwise you could break the 1/8 plywood or just make the cd skip.
hopes this helps. i mounted my din into the dash which did require some cutting, which most people on this site would probably shoot me for, but the dash was pretty bad off in the first place.

Thanx - Sounds as if I will be OK. I am one of those who has said that you will go to chevelle-hell if you cut a dash. But for a moment I had doubts. I decided to keep the cassette in the dash & build a console for the CD.
