I was just wondering in what order you guys would install things if you were starting with a bare shell, things like the electrical, carpet, dash, etc.

Thanks.

I completely redid my 71 Convertable. I started with it bare. I installed the sound damping material first (NO GLUE) and the fire wall pad. Then I installed the wiring harness and the heater box. After running harness under the damping material I glued the damping material down. I threw an old rug on it and installed the piller postand rear trim then the dash, routing the wires as I went. When that was complete I installed my carpet, the the steering wheel assy. and wired it up. The dash cap was next followed by the rear carpet area then the rear seat. Front Carpet with Center Console harness was next then the center console.I hooked up the Transmission and made sure the Park switch worked and the car shifted smoothly added the steering wheel and finally put my seats in.Each time I connected wires I used a battery charger on that cirucit to make sure it was working properly. (inline 5,10,15,or 20 amp fuse on the postive clip of the charger). I think the only thing I would have done different was use more rubber sealer along my seams just to be safe and delay putting the steering column in until I had the center console set in place.

Firewall pad, heater box, defroster ducts and any other duct work were the first to go on. Then the intermediate wiring harness, sound deadner, carpet, kick panels, seat belts, trunk divider board, package tray, rear door panels, and rear seat after that. I connected the wiring harness to the hash, then bolted the whole assembly in place, with the steering column to follow. Next I went to the console, buckets, sill plates, outer window felts, and door panels . Next was all the door and roofrail weatherstripping. The headliner was the last thing to go in.
