What is the overall length of your crossmember? Maybe an older one will work.

Hey Malibu81, I would dearly LOVE to know what you come up with!!!! It's the only way to get a decent exhaust system under these G-Bodies!

Here is what I did on my 79 Malibu. I welded a piece of 2" x .250" steel strap across the top of the x-member where the notch needs to go. Next make your notch (mine is almost completely through the cross section). I then fabricated a U shaped piece (with a flat "ear" on either end)that bolts to the bottom of the crossmember. It is removable, but really strengthens the x-member. The exhaust pipe now goes through the crossmember, but is removable due to the bolt-on lower piece. I have 3 1/2" pipes run through the x-member with ease.

I also raised the rear floor pans (where the rear seat passengers feet would be) to allow the mufflers to tuck up better under the car. Those Flowmaster top 10 race mufflers are 5" thick and would hang down without this modification.

BTW, the passenger side should clear just fine.

Good Luck
