Has anyone made a custom gauge set for there malibu that had dummy lights before? i am guessing you could do it because the speedo takes up alot of room if you changed that to a smaller one then you could mabe fit oil, engine temp and so forth. if anyone has done it on a 66 and have a pic of it scanned please let me know i am interested in maybe doing something like that sometime after car is street leagle....Thanks

I have not done this on a 66 but I do have a 72 with a ss dash and idiot lights. After searching for gauges at a reasonable price I gave up and converted my cluster to gauges. I kept the speedo,tach and clock. Where the gauge pod holds the idiot lights the holes were large enough to mount some small gauges I punched out the idiot light lenses. Then I made some small brackets to keep the gauges in place. Best of all when you look at my dash It looks like it came with those gauges because I didnt cut the plastic lens that covers the whole gauge pod. They mount in the exact location they would if they were original.
