: Console Clock

I am new to the tech pages and also the new owner of a restored 1966 SS. Only thing left is to get the console clock working. I figured this topic would have been covered in past discussions and was wondering where I might find information on how to remove the clock and then where to send it for repair.
Thanks

ccrider, I've seen numerous posts on this little bugger. Go to the top of the page, click on search and type in "clock", or "console clock", and you'll find what you're looking for.

I think Year One now offers a retrofit service. Also call James Hinshaw at Hinshaws Chevelle Parts, 336-226-8242. He can steer you towards a solution. I believe it is a waste to try to repair the clock, they just replace the guts. Expect to pay about $100.

When the hell is someone going to reproduce these clocks?, they would definitely be a good seller!! I know I need one!

After a little more research I did find a few posts here that gave the names of companies that will take your clock and replace the insides with a quartz movement but I did not find any mention of reproductions.

Year One also has a service that will take your old clock and put in a quartz movement for around 100.00 bucks, I believe it is about 3 weeks turn around time. Hope this will help.

I haven't even got around to seeing if my clock works yet, but what do you guys think about putting my vacuum gauage in it's place. Tacky?

Good point Gene. When is the last time anybody looked at the clock in their car to check the time. So maybe your idea is not that bad, but you know how us Chevy guys are - if it's there we need to fix it, paint it, or tune it to go faster. Thanks for the help.

Hey Gene I put a 2 5/8" tach in my 67's console it looks sweet autometer makes the tach also the suntune mini tach is a perfect fit and most guys that have seen it thought it was a good idea in place of the clock

Thnx CC n Scott. I'll see if the little bugger works first. I bet it doesn't. I deliberately bought a 2 5/8" vaccum guage so I had the option of it fitting nicely in the clocks housing.
Honestly, the only times I'm interested in are 60 ft., 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile ! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

Also, that blinker tack sucks when it comes to racing. It's hard to see and only has 200 rpm increments. Plus I have the 325 HP one which redlines at 5500. Yeah right!
