Just out of curiosity, is there any reason you couldn't use a GTO or GS or 442 console in a same year Chevelle?

Floorpans might have different contours.
I couldn't say for sure

All Gm "A" Bodys should be using the same floor pans 69 thru 72. The style of the console will obviously be different from one mfg to another. Also the basic bucket seat frames should be the same even though the upholstery is different. My guess is that the console should fit. However the position of the rear mounting bracket as well as the bracket itself could be different.?? Only one way to know for sure... Let us know how it turns out! graemlins/beers.gif

Floor pans are the same, plus I've seen pics of a couple cars with them mounted. Even if the pans weren't the same they could be made to fit. I've seen several with 65 impala consoles too, look like 66/67 Chevelle consoles except they have a SS emblem in front of the clock.
I got my console from a 66 Caprice (same as impala but with added wood grain). I expect the impala mounting brackets would have worked but I didn't have them so I fabbed a new one for the rear.
