has anyone made door panels out of 1/4 inch mdf. and is there any think off my orginal door panels that i might need for my new door panels. Im think of using dynomate or something like it as the pading for the panel you think it might work. and then covering them in cloth, vinal or tweet. any help would be great?

yeah, im doin something like this, all you really need is to cut a hole for the locks, the window regulator, and the door handle. The tricky part is towards the top of the door where it curves, its easier just to use the existing top half as a support.

I just made custom panels for our 68, using 1/4 inch board and 1/4 in foam. Layered the foam to give it some depth/style, and used vinyl and tweed. Lots of glue. The problem we ran into was over padding in the window crank area,,window cranks wouldn't pop in.. had to cut out some padding, so be careful how much you pad them. Besides that they look good. The scorching summer will be the test to see if they hold up! If you need to attach any chrome or trim, i suggest using a profesional windshield adhesive,, (not the super black weatherstrip or contact glue).

I am in the process of fitting some Rod Door panels in my car. They will be covered in light grey Ultra Leather. I'll post pix when I install them.

It's a BIGGER block!
Something that works great to make your door panels is 1/8 inch mahogany. One thing nice about the mahogany, it doesn't warp like cardboard.
Then pop rivet the top metal to them.
Cover with 1/4 inch foam and you should have no trouble with the how the cranks fit.

ok so i have to get the some type of top metal off my orginal panels. can i spray some type of sealer on the mdf wood do it wont warp and spread apart. Also would putting screws work instead of pot rivits?
