Has anyone installed an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and Performer RPM Camshaft in a 396 (specifically) What do you think of this combo's performance?

I talked to a guy up in New Hampshire who installed the RPM manifold and downright loved it. He then got the cam, and was a little unimpressed. Seeing the numbers on it made me a little unimpressed too. I would go with a major cam grinder, like Comp or Crane. They would have a lot more experience than Edelbrock when it come to cams. That's why I'm doing on my 396. RPM manifold, Comp XE268 hydraulic flat tappet cam. At least 3 people on this website that I'm aware of have their 396 set up that way, and no one's ever complained...

I have and Edelbrock Performer intake on the 396 in my '68 El Camino, along with a Crane 290 cam. That setup works great. The only problem I had (and it took me a long time to find it) was that there was a flaw in the intake casting. Since I was running an HEI, I was not using the coil hold-down bolt hole. It turns out that the bolt hole went right through to the runner (BIG vacuum leak). I put a bolt in that hole and it has been fine since.
PS: The intake was already on the car when I bought it.
