New to the forum, any help on this one would be appreciated. I have my dash blown apart right now, and have taken out the original mono front speaker which literally turned to dust. I bought a Ken Crane Audio dual 3.5 inch speaker setup (Same as Custom Autosound). My car has air, and this is the right part. I can't get the thing to fit for the life of me. The speakers sit right on top of the air vents in the dash, and it is impossibly tight, its driving me nuts. Anybody else dealt with this?

I tried without success to do this on my 68. The only way that I can see to do it would be to cut & modify the A/C duct itself. There just isn't enough room to fit the two speakers without cutting. I'm currently trying to figure out a way to mount the speakers under the dash, not having much luck there yet either.

At least I know someone else is dealing with this. I guess I'll go in the direction you are and fab something to fit around the vent. Thanks for the help. I am wondering why they sell this thing to fit and it doesn't.

They do not fit! My experience is with the Custom Autosound units. I tried to put one in, then was told there was a specific unit for A/C cars. I swapped for that - it fit no better. This is one of those aftermarket parts that was designed by someone who never saw a 67 Chevelle. Send it back! As long as we try to make this crap fit, they will continue to sell it as is. I have a very low threshold for retuning parts that have to be modified to fit. This stuff ain't cheap, it should fit as advertised!
(putting away the soap box now!)
