I am told that the best restoration for the insides of my 70 chevelle frame is to have is chemically cleaned and then to Schulz it.
I would appreciate any comments or help on this? Is this worth it? Options for this? Schulz or another product like POR brand?
I am in the Chicago area and need to find a shop which will be able to dip the entire frame. Anybody have any sources they can recommend?

Ken -
I had the frame of my '67 convt. chemically dipped and then powdercoated. It worked out great. Totally no rust at all and it really looks good. I plan on taking the main part of the body and having it dipped also. But after the parts of the panels that have rusted through have been replaced, the entire body will be painted with an epoxy-primer. Then I thinking that I'll proably use POR15 in all the seams to ensure that the body is as sealed as possible.
Now this may seem a bit over-board, but I plan on keeping this jewel a longggggg time and driving it as much as possible.
Anyway, good luck and I'm sure that others here have other ways of achiving the same thing.

My buddy had Vette frame stripped at Redi-Strip. They have locations nationwide. They have large tanks and can dip a whole body shell. They have a full page add in each months Hemmings Motor News (the big dark yellow phone book type book available at most good newsstands monthly). I have heard stories that they can have dirty tanks etc., but he had excellent results and his frame sat outside near the ocean for 8 years and was extremely rusty. We body Schutzed the inside with a sprayer that had a 3 foot long flexible platic wand that had 4 holes in the tip that sprayed out 4 sides at 90°

Back when I lived near Chicago, I took my parts to a chemical stripper place in Union Grove Wis. Prices were reasonable and the parts looked great. Also, the owner is a Chev enthusiast (mostly Corvettes). the place is on the east side of Route 45 if I recall. Now I am in Tucson, so the drive would be a bit much.

I think that shop in Union Grove has since closed down. If you don't mind driving up to the South Milwaukee area, you should get in touch with Restoration Specialists in Hales Corners, Wi. They chemical dip frames with great results. If you want, they can even dip the stripped frame in an epoxy primer which they bake in an oven for a while. Supposed to be durable and it fills all the suspect crevices that have been stripped by the chemical. Last time I checked I think they wanted $400 to dip and coat the frame, which sounded awfully reasonable to me.

Ken, I agree with 70l34, I had my frame done 2 years ago at Restoration Specialists in Hales Corners, Wi. Think I paid $400 for the strip and then went the POR-15 route. Was very happy with their work. They are right off Hwys 45 and 100 in Hales Corners. Good luck!
