I just got done welding in a new lower windshield channel on my '67; the new panel doesn't have the studs that the reveal molding clips attach to.
Has anyone tackled this problem? Will snap rivets work?
Also, does the bottom edge of the revel molding clips butt up against the bottom of the channel--or is the edge above the bottom of the channel--my clips were so rotten when I took the thing apart, there was no way to tell.

YIP, been there done that. You have to replace them with special screws. made for those clips. Most automotive paint stores should have them. I hope you haven't installed the windshield yet 'cuz it's easier to install them with it out.

I used a special rivet that I got at a paint supplier. I had to have a special head for my rivet gun that held the head of the rivet up about 3/6-1/8". It is not possible to put the rivets in with the glass installed. I measured the distance that the remaining studs were from the outside edge of the glass molding to set the depth. Be advised, there are two thicknesses of windshield seal available. I can't remember which is correct (3/8"?), but the wrong one will affect how well your reveal moldings fit.

After drilling a .125 hole in the proper location, I have just pop rivited (light alum) the plastic/steel retainer in place.
Measure an existing stud from the outside of the channel and approximatly the same spacing.

Gear head, if you want the original stud for the clip, the Eastwood Co., has a stud welder that looks like a big gun? It spot welds softer metal to steel really easy and strong. Look in the latest catolog or go to the website and ask. Dont know the cost but it is not real cheap; if you know somebody with it it will save some money. I believe the tool is called a stud welder. Good Luck!
