: Headliner easier w/o windshield?

I'm going to be replacing my windshield in the near future (67 Malibu). Would this be a good time to replace the headliner as well? Is it much easier with the windshield out? I'm already planning to pull the dash.

Thanks.

Rabbit,
Definitely easier with the windshield out. You can pull on it easier in any direction in order to get the wrinkles out w/o. smashing your hand on the windshield. Also easier to get the adhesive on the front edges of the roof metal, again w/o getting anything on the glass. Good luck!

Jack,
I've have only replaced a headliner one time, and that was with the glass in place. I can imagine that it would have been easier with the glass renoved. If you intend to replace your windshield anyway, I would opt to install new headliner at that time as well. I would not recommend removing the glass for the sole purpose of aiding headliner installation. Its not that difficult.

I just replaced my headliner on my 69 chevelle and I really don't think I could of did it without the back window out also.
You have to pull on it at the back also and there is just no room to work with the back window in. Also it would be difficult to get the moulding back in around the back window.
Good Luck

when I did my headliner I pulled the back glass. It makes it easier to pull the headliner, yes. But you can also re-seal the window to prevent water damage, also it is easier to do the sail panels and package shelf.

as far as the windshield goes you have a high probability of damage, which is why I left mine in. but you are going to replace windshield anyway so go for it

just my 2 cents worth
