Are the door panels on a 71 Chevelle identical to a 70? Did all 71 Chevelles come with a drivers remote control mirror?

According to the resto catalog in front of me, the 70-72 models use the same panels. As for the remote control mirror, I think that this would have been and option. The door panels that I have purchased have the hole for the remote mirror marked, but not punched thru.

the SS models came with a remote mirror std, they were options on all other models.

BTW the door panels look the same, but the grain may be slightly different for years 70-71-72.

Jody, I have never heard of the remote mirror being standard equipment on all SS models! Actually, they weren't standard and are probably fewer than not on most SS cars from 70-72!

In the 71 assembly manual, sale brochure, and some options / model description documents I got from GM list the optional SS package including strips, malibu trim, badging, drivers side remote mirror, wheels, etc. It was a rectangular chrome mirror. The bullet style mirror (we see alot of) was supposed to be optional but was never put into production. All the cars that have these robbed a cutlass or camaro for the mirror. 70 may be different...

The chrome remote mirror for all three years was indentical, except the control handle on a 70 looked like a golf tee and the 71/72 handle was kind of elongated on the end.
