Guys, I've got a set of spindles with backing plates that I believe came off a 73-77 A body. The casting number on one of them is: "371675". If anyone has access to an interchange manual, could you please let me know the proper application. I'm somewhat interested in these as I believe I could use these taller spindles towards a disc brake conversion utilizing Global West's or Hotchkiss' upper A arms (w/11" option).
Ron70,
I have a 70 Malibu with, I think, a 74 Monte disc setup. The lower ball joint does not completely stick thru the lower part of the pindle. At least not enuff to use a cotter pin thru the ball joint.
I have been told this is the indicator of a 73-77 swap. I have also been told that if I wanna make 'em safe, is to get the ball joints turned down.
I have not pulled the caliper off to look for a casting #. Where did you find the casting # on yours?

I looked in my hollander and it shows very few casting numbers for spindles. The number you gave was not listed. G.M. dealers used to have a book that crossed casting numbers to part numbers.

DG,
The casting number was on the inside surface of the spindle as if you were looking at the inboard surface of the rotor.

Bring up a very old thread, but I have a pair of spindles, with the casting numbers 371575 and 371576. Are they indeed from a 73-77 A body? Or are they B body spindles? Any help would be geatly appreciated.
