Ok, my auto teacher sold me this AC dash out of a car (SS or Monte?), in great shape for $20.00. Upon taking off the woodgrain plate around the guages I saw grain, like the plastic grainlike plastic? From what I've read, behind the woodgrain plate on a Montecarlo dash there is no grain, but there was grain on this one. I was like WTF this is a real SS dash!!! What kind of an idiot puts holes (for the woodgrain plate) in a real SS dash!? Anyways, is this a real SS dash? How would I go about filling the holes and having the grain in the spots where I filled the holes? Thanks!

It's a Monte Carlo dash. They definitely have grain behind the woodgrain piece.

A Monte Carlo dash was nothing other than a SS
dash with the woodgrain applied over it to make
it look different. you can use epoxy to fill the
holes and then file or grind in the textured
look to it.

here's a little tip I can give you, I did a Monte Dash once, I got some Epoxy and filled them, but the trick was keeping the face flat, then putting the grain in it. Put some duct tape over the hole, stretch it tight then fill the epoxy from the back, make sure to mix it up in the hole so there are no air pockets, once it dries take the tape off and bam a perfect filled hole. Then take a pick and start to draw some grain into the epoxy scraping it away, onc eyou dye it you will never be able to tell they were there... except for the windshield wiper hole, that's impossible to cover up.

Or you could strip the woodgrain and paint it to match the exterior color of your car, or paint it black (semi-gloss or satin black is best) like I did mine. Pictures to follow.
