I've recently come into working on my dad's 71 Chevelle. In midst of the search for the build sheet we proceeded to remove the carpet, seats, and console. I figured it would be a good time to clean it all while it was out of the car, or in the process of putting it all back together. I'm unsure of what and how to clean the seats, carpet, and rest of the interior without risking ruining it with modern cleaners. What are the best methods and products to use to clean the interior?

If things are fairly grungy, Simple Green works great on vinyl and won't damage anything. To clean painted surfaces a simple damp rag will work. If there is stuff that is on the painted surfaces that won't come off with a damp rag, a little Simple Green would help. You'll need to wipe off the residue with a damp cloth (damp with water, nothing else) to remove the Simple Green residue on hard painted surfaces or plastic surfaces.
