Have a 1969 malibu that I purchased in June and am trying to straighten out some of the goof-ups. The carpeting in the car is in two peices and the front piece seems to be too big. The body was orginally an automatic car and was wondering if there is a difference in the size of the transmission tunnel ? The car now has a borg-warner super T-10 and a hurst shifter installed. There is a hole cut in the tunnel for the shifter, but haven't come acrossed any other motification to the tunnel. I am getting ready to replace the carpet and was wondering if there is a difference in the tunnel size that I should order a carpet made for a car with a column shift like this one was orginally and cut a hole for the shifter? Any suggestions ?

I think the tunnel is 'bumped out' a bit for a 4 speed car, so there should be a difference. Since the carpet does not come with holes pre-cut for anything, I would just order it for an automatic. That way it will fit your tunnel better.
