I took a mid 80s trans am tilt colum and made it fit my 67 and used the key in colum switch.Had to grind and weld on it but it was fairly straight foward. The original wheel wont fit though! Most of the GM stuff from 68 up is interchangeable as long as ya got a few special tools. As far as a dropin unit call flaming river they make all kinds of colums using the gm design.$$$$

I believe you will have to go with a whole new column. I did the same exchange on my 69 chevelle. I got mine off of ebay they go pretty reasonable if they don't have tilt. I had to clean up a little and paint it but it came out nice and I'm no pro. I believe you can get it out of any year chevelle from 69-72 for the right fit and also from a 70-72 Monte Carlo, Also from a 69-72 Cutlass, Lemans, Skylark, Grand Prix.
