Alright guys I just got a 4 speed console. The guy I bought my 70 from put a hurst short throw shifter in here and the alignment is way off? It is like the shifter is off on the left of the hump. Any ideas here. The short throw will be history, but the shifter itself I think will not come through the center

The guy whp put the shifter in put the WRONG shifter in the car. 69 - 72 "with console" cars require an offset lever that moves the verticle location of the shifter toward the center of the car and away from the driver. All you need to do is get the right lever and bolt it onto your Hurst.
I am assuming that "The guy who put..." used the later design Hurst with a detachable shifter handle. You can tell by looking at the shifter where it comes thru the floow...remove the boot and you should see two bolts that attach the shifter lever to the Hurst Mechanism down below the floor. If you car has a shifter where the handle and the mechanism is all one integral unit you will have to eather get yourself a new shifter...complete kit might be the best way to go...or cut the existing handle and weld a dog leg in that will position the shifter where it should be.
