I have an idea that might sould strange im am thinking of replacing my old knob to a new knob but my idea is to replace with the eight ball that you would find on an ordinary pool table. i think the balls are made of porslin so what kind of bit whould i need to drill out pool table ball.

At first i thought of a masonary bit but i thank it would chip it to much But like i said a stange idea a maybe a first.

Thanks in advance

I drilled one out with a regular old everyday bit. I even tapped it with a plain old everyday tap. A little advice though, use a file to make a flat out of one of the "8's" - easier to start the bit on a flat surface. Oh-yeah, you'll probably have to epoxy it to the shift handle, as the original is a press fit (column shift lever not threaded).
