I found a new friend who has 7 grand tach for a 68 Chevelle. Does it require a separate sending unit or is it all enclosed within the unit? Also, anyone have any thoughts on what it is worth? He doesn't know how much to ask for it.

Paul, all you have to do is install the tach in the car (and cut out the hole in the dash). If all he has is the tach you cant do anything with it. You have to have the correct metal backing unit. It has all the other gauges in it. If you have this all you have to do is install it in the car, cut the plastic and install the plastic ferrel in the front of the dash. Then just run the wires to the coil. You have to have the original wiring harness also. If you have all this the tach is worth around 300.00 i think. If you have any other ? then just mail me. c_olinde@hotmail.com

You can hook the tach up without the original harness, but you must make sure that you have in grounded properly. Connect the top terminal to the coil, and the lower one to 12V, and ground the case. I have two tachs for 68's, one that works, and one for parts, if you need anything. The tach with the 5500 red line is made for BB applications.
