I use acetone to wipe down plastic parts before painting. Seems to clean it up and helps the paint stick. RichF

I just picked up some PLASTIC PREP at a local Hobby Shop last night. I'm getting ready to do the same (paint the dash). What are you doing about the chrome detail? As for the plastic lens for the guage pod, most all of the After Market places have them. Check the Ground Up web site and catalog, Year One, OPG, NPD to name a few!

Denatured alcohol will clean stuff up real well, used it on a '77 Elky I had and the door panels still look good eight years later!

I have some touch paint (silver), I bought my wife a Honda last month and they gave my some touch up paint..... Ya I know! What can I say, my wife liked the car!!!! I guess it beats the dealership from having to paint them. Anyway I plan on trimming out the dash with the touch up. Will see, I don't have a steady hand, Might have to get my kid to do it.. I used some " SEM Bumper fill" to fill the holes, I think I will need to sand a little. Thx all for the input

graemlins/thumbsup.gif AS FOR THE TRIM, I DECIDED TO TRY A PAINT STICK THAT "TESTERS" PUTS OUT.....IT WORKS GREAT!!! IT'S SILVER , SO IF YOU WANT CHROME YOU MIGHT HAVE TO TRY SOMETHING ELSE.

Food for thought... over the next few weeks I plan to use an air brush. Basically 3 steps; first, light coats of high GLOSS black on the desired areas. Let dry thoroughly, then again with the air brush, light coats of ALCLADD II (spelling??) CHROME paint, then seal.

Drew, I also have that type of "chrome" paint. I haven't tried it yet either, let us know how it turns out.

I thought about airbrush, but, here again "talent" plays a part here... I bought some black gloss paint from the bodyshop shop for vinyl and it seems to work, good!!

Mike, will do (chrome paint by air brush).
Jack, I was under the impression a good epoxy mix would do the trick. I beleive there was something the GM assembly line used, but don't know exactly what it was.

You might want to try a local sign shop and see if they can do the chrome edging in silver leaf. Once it is done and a clearcoat applied over it you would be hard pressed to tell it is not chromed.
