I have found a place in Seattle which does gold Cadmium plating for most of Boeing's airplane parts. Their minimum charge is $120 which will allow me to do not one, but two boosters and master cylinder lids.

The problem: They've not seen a booster before and balked when I showed it to them. They say the solution is cyanide-based and will seep into the booster unless it is disassembled. Can anyone advise me on how the booster can be taken apart for plating? It looks like it could be somehow rotated to disconnect front from back but I'm not sure and don't want to ruin it. Thanks, guys.

I'd stick with one of the booster restoration firms. Booster Dewey, ASL or Steve Gregori(sp). They get around $100 to rebuild and replate. See Hemmings for details.

Stan your right it does rotate to separate the halves.Clamp it in a vice be careful the only thing you have to turn it with are the 2 studs the master bolts to.If you have an old master bolt it on and use it to turn it, tapping gently with a hammer on the outer rim of the booster.Careful it is spring loaded.Be sure to mark it so it goes back together the same way...FRED
