Hey guys. Today I was dropping my better-half's '91 Caprice for new carpet and starting asking questions about the interior my my '70 Elco.

The only things I need done are carpet and headliner. Anyway, I asked him if could do a newer style headliner (like in the Caprice) in my '70 Elco. He said yes, but would alittle cost more than the normal "bow" type.

I was just wondering, has anyone else had this done to their Chevelle or El Camino? I would like the new style for two main reasons. First, it looks cleaner in my opinion. Second, it will allow me to have the roll bar's main hoop closer to the top of the roof (more helmet room). I am having the 6 point bar installed first.

If anyone has one, or has any thoughts please post them. Thanks guys.

In one of the car magazines a few years ago, I saw a 65 with a modern looking interior. It had the one piece cloth headliner like you described, and tweed seat covers that he had custom made for the factory seats. The door panels were also covered in the same material. It looked great!! It gave the interior the look of a late model car. I'm pretty sure it was in a Super Chevy magazine sometime in 1999.

Thanks Randy. I haven't decided which to use, cloth or vinyl. I have tan interior already and planed on keeping it.

I thought a vinyl headliner in the newer style color matched to my seats and doorpanels would look good.

What do you think?
