I'm putting a bench seat in my 68 (originally a bench seat car) and need to know how it should be bolted in. I can't begin to describe how the buckets were bolted in, so have no good reference.
I'd like to know which holes had studs, which bolts, and if possible what size bolts & studs do I need to go buy?

Somebody's gotta know? Which holes for a bench seat takes the studs?

My 70 has 1 hole each side for the front of the seat, 2 holes for each side in the rear of the front seat, the 2 holes are less than an inch apart. No studs.

My '69 is the same way. If you go to my "bodywork" link below, the first pic in the last table (with the caulk gun) you can make out the holes. It looks like there "should be" 2 holes for the front, but actually there is only one like Ron stated.

Hope this helps. I'm not sure of the size, but a resto catalog should say, maybe...

The seat should be fastened to four weldnuts in the floor pan. These are reinforced so that the seat stays in place during a collision or other trauma. There is one 5/16-18 screw at each corner of the seat, despite the fact that there are double sets of holes. The original screws are hex head, about one inch long and have a captive flat washer about an inch in diameter. Grade 5 would be appropriate here.
