Any of you out there that have changed side rear window vertical chrome and weatherstrippng? I assume that you have to get at bottom screw on chrome piece by removing interior panels? Did you use rubber gasket supplied by remanufacturer or has anyone tried it with a black rubber gasket like Loctite makes?

I replaced the rubber on my 64 awhile back. There is a small phillips head screw at the bottom of the rubber molding. Remove the screw and then just slide out the rubber. I did not do anything with the chrome strip that is attached to the glass.
I put some soapy water on the new molding before sliding it into the chrome strip. That helped make it slide easier.

Actually, it was the chrome strip that I am replacing. Decided yesterday to go with black silicone to attach chrome to glass as rubber gasket supplied looking like a pretty tight fit and would need some persuasion. Went on real easy and looks good. Hope it takes the abuse of winding up and down but here in Canada only get the car out a few months a year and usually the windows stay down then anyway. Will remember your tip about the soapy water though when I get the weatherstrippng gasket done. Thanks
