In 1967, when I was 20 (do the math and you will see I'm a "mature" Chevelle enthusiast), my folks bought me a '66 SS coupe with a 4 spd. Wow, did I ever have some good times in that car! Anyway, two years later I decided to go to college and had to sell it. Since then, of all the cars I've had, that's the one I miss the most.
A few years ago I picked up a '68 El Camino Malibu that's a nice weekend driver. However, I still had a yearning for a big block, so about a year ago I casually mentioned to the Mrs. that I was thinking about getting a '68 El Camino SS. She really surprised me by saying "why don't you get a Chevelle like you used to have?" (We were dating back in '67) I'm thinking "alllrrightt!!" She then says, "it has to have air conditioning." That narrowed the field down a bit. [Okay, okay . . .I know this is the Tech section, so I'll get to the point--it's just fun to share good news with people who can appreciate it. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif]
After a nine month search I found and bought a beautiful Marina Blue '66 SS coupe with a M20 4 spd., L34 and A/C.
The car has power brakes (J50) and power steering (N40). My question is, were those considered stock or options for a SS?
Thanks,
Greg
