I'm building a 350 for my 68 w/ 9.35 compression and a 268 Comp Cam. Currently have 3.55 rr gears and a 700R4 w/ the stock converter. Wondering if I should bump up the stall speed w/ this cam or if I won't notice the difference. Thinking about using a TCI converter. Anyone had luck w/ TCI or is there someone better?

I have a TCI 10" streetfighter behind my 396. Its o.k, but I'm dissapointed that it doesn't stall as high as I expected it to. It is pretty "tight", wich is good for regular driving. It flashes at about 28-3000 with slicks on. Of course, with radials, if I stomp the throttle, the tires break loose, and the shift light comes on almost instantly. Three gear burnouts from 25 mph are a regular occurance.
All in all, its a pretty good piece.
A few years ago, I had very good results from a motor similar to yours, with an 11"/ 2800 stall converter by a company called DYNAMIC. I used it in my daily driver T-Type Regal, 350, 9.1:1, L79 cam, 3.42's. The car ran low 14's on 28" tall radials, and was super driveable.

I would second BBDave's second recommendation for a stall converter. I am running an 11 inch with a slightly bigger cam and 4.10 gears. I really like that the cars goes directly to the power curve when you step on the gas - you never have to wait for the whole thing to catch up.
Call your torque converter manufacturer to make sure you match you selection to your car's cam, gears, weight, and so on. For acceleration performance, a converter is a nice modification.

Wheels, I run a TCI Breakaway behind my ZZ3 in my 64. It brake stalls at 2,900 rpms which puts it around 400 rpm below my torque peak. It seems to work great for me but is a little loose for economy. But I don't worry about gas mileage.:)

PS, It flash stalls very hard!
