Just starting on interior and I've got the supposedly original auto shifter in the trunk. I've pulled the carpet up, but not the right holes to bolt it up. i don't have the console yet, but it does have the plate the back of the console would bolt to. On the trim code it has 796 which according to a Year One book tells me it was original with buckets. Is this right or can someone help me with this. I am also in the market for a good console.

Are the original bucket brackets welded to the floor? If the console bracket is there I believe your chances are good for bucket/console interior. What does your shifter base look like? It could be someone gave you a camaro shifter. the handles are the same but the bases are different. I see your in rome. I'm not far off, acworth. Let me know if you need any help.. 770-966-8624

Hey, I appreciate your reply that's wild I was in Acworth today working. My car had a green interior and previous second owner swapped to black interior with a color change from what looks like Pontiac buckets. The brackets for the seats have one bolt to secure and it doesn't look like they are welded to floorpan. The shifter has four holes and arched on both ends where it looks like it would bolt up over the center transmission hump. There is also a wiring harness under carpet that is flat with an eight terminal plug, and for some reason the purple leads have been cut. I don't know whats going on. P.S. the car use to be in Cartersville not to far from your neck of the woods(Southern saying) Thanks , Chris

796 is dark green buckets for 1970. I believe Ground Up repros console and shifter.
