Received my carpet underlay (sound deadner)
for my '65 Malibu in the mail. It consists of 7 pieces. When I removed my original
underlayment, it was like a cardboard
material consisting of one large piece.
It seems I need more material than this to keep the heat out, etc. Would it be possible to use Roofing Felt or something else
over these 7 pieces?

John, I think you would be better off springing for the Heat Shield material (foilscrim faced insulation). Comes in 4'x6' sheets. NPD and others sell it.
I wish I would have went the extra mile on mine http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

you can go to a car stereo shop and buy the sound deadener, but is it expensive. the factrory just used the tar paper, with jute below the carpet. works for GM

Last time I was looking around I found a kit die cut to the correct size. I know that you can get it from Muscle Cars Only for the 70-72 but not sure about 65. They have a web site www.musclecarsonly.com (http://www.musclecarsonly.com)
I have never purchased from them before so you might want to ask a lot of questions. I am sure that some of the other reproduction companies carry it as well but I don't have my catalogs with me.
