I am restoring my SS dash , in the past I used black vinyl paint and it seemed to work fine but I only had the car a year or so , what seems to work best for you people out there who have refinished there dashes? btw I'm not referring to the dash pad , I am disassembling entire dash and restoring it

A few years back I restored a 71 Z28 dash and console. I used SEM black vinyl dye and top coated it with SEM clear satin spray. It came out absolutely awesome. Seemed as though it was going to be very durable also but I ended-up selling the car a year later so I don't know how it has held up!

Although I'm not working on it right now, mine is stripped & ready to paint. I checked Sherwin Williams (automotive) paint for interior plastics and it sounded pretty good. I'm also going to check out PPG and Dupont when I start back to work on the interior. Also heard good things about SEM. Post what you decide on and let us know how it worked.
Good luck, Pete

I have decided on using "Rust-Oleum Specialty Vinyl Flexible Coating" It should work well as flexible being a key point , I do not want the finish flaking off do to expiation and contraction of dash when it heats up and cools down ,, cores only time will tell but it says its for dash boards and such

There are a lot of discussions on this same topic if you use search. I was going to use Krylon, but I noticed that OPG (Original Parts Group) sells paint especially for the chevelle dash. I also bought a new dash cluster lens from them that is perfect. You might also want to consider this item, too.
