I hava a 72 Chevelle. Center console lights not working. Wire loose under the dash. Can any one describe how these lights work. What they connect to, do they dim, where is the ground, is the rear light switched by itself, ect.

The lights are powered from a harness that runs from the under dash harness to the console. The shift indicator light turns on with the headlights, and I believe the rear light is wired to the dome light. Ground for the harness connects to one of the shifter mounting bolts which goes to the trans tunnel.
